All persons can take steps to decrease the risks by addressing these factors by healthier lifestyles. Countrywide Integrated Noncommunicable Disease Intervention (CINDI) program workshops are being organised to help individuals adopt and maintain healthy life patterns. The success of health education depends primarily on the motivation of adult population to participate in the workshops. The aim of the study was to identify the most common both intrinsic and extrinsic (environmental) factors involved in the decision-making to join the programme. Methods: Quantitative research method with a survey questionnaire as a research instrument was used in data collection and analysis. The study was conducted in Radovljica Health Centre in December 2009 and January 2010. 60 respondents participating in the CINDI workshops from December 2008 to January 2009 were included in the study. The data were analysed by the Spss 15.0. Statistics Software. Descriptive statistics, at test, Chi square and ANOVA were employed. Results: According to the results obtained, the intrinsic motivational factors have precedence over the extrinsic ones (PV = 4.0). In the respondentsć view, the doctors have a statistically more significant impact on motivation than nurses (p<0,001). The results also show that there is no significant difference in motivation in regards to gender, age, social status and health condition of the respondents. Discussion and conclusion: Results of the present and other comparative studies reveal that the intrinsic motivational factors play a decisive role in voluntary participation in health education workshops. A rather insignificant role of nurses in this function can be attributed to the prevailing organisation of the overall health care in Slovenia. Nurses as motivators could heighten the awareness of the population of all ages to avoid the health risk factors and thereby decrease the incidence and prevalence of heart diseases</dc:description><dc:description xml:lang="sl">Izhodišča: Poznani so dejavniki tveganja za nastanek kardiovaskularnih bolezni. Uporabili smo metodo anketiranja. Vzorec predstavlja šestdeset anketirancev, vključenih v delavnice CINDI v obdobju 2008-2009. Raziskava je bila izvedena decembra 2009 in januarja 2010. Podatki so bili obdelani s statističnim programom SPSS 15.0. V programe bo potrebno pritegniti tudi mlajšo, službeno še aktivno populacijo ter proučiti pristope, metode in orodja za njihovo večjo vključitev</dc:description><edm:type>TEXT</edm:type><dc:type xml:lang="sl">znanstveno časopisje</dc:type><dc:type xml:lang="en">journals</dc:type><dc:type rdf:resource="http://www.wikidata.org/entity/Q361785" /></edm:ProvidedCHO><ore:Aggregation rdf:about="http://www.dlib.si/?URN=URN:NBN:SI:doc-KL2EPYGO"><edm:aggregatedCHO rdf:resource="URN:NBN:SI:doc-KL2EPYGO" /><edm:isShownBy rdf:resource="http://www.dlib.si/stream/URN:NBN:SI:doc-KL2EPYGO/dfa36559-b53f-4a85-af9f-dcd162e5062f/PDF" /><edm:rights rdf:resource="http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/" /><edm:provider>Slovenian National E-content Aggregator</edm:provider><edm:intermediateProvider xml:lang="en">National and University Library of Slovenia</edm:intermediateProvider><edm:dataProvider xml:lang="sl">Zbornica zdravstvene in babiške nege Slovenije - Zveza strokovnih društev medicinskih sester, babic in zdravstvenih tehnikov Slovenije</edm:dataProvider><edm:object rdf:resource="http://www.dlib.si/streamdb/URN:NBN:SI:doc-KL2EPYGO/maxi/edm" /><edm:isShownAt rdf:resource="http://www.dlib.si/details/URN:NBN:SI:doc-KL2EPYGO" /></ore:Aggregation></rdf:RDF>
