Starting from the two very different versions of the story presented in the Fabulae, a handbook of mythology compiled by an otherwise unknown writer from the 2nd century AD, Hyginus, I compare them with the other known renditions of this motif in ancient literature. A brief survey of its treatment in the fine arts is included as wellV prispevku obravnavam starogrški mit o Antiopi, materi Zevsovih oz. Jupitrovih dvojčkov Amfiona in Zeta, ki sta veljala za ustanovitelja Teb ali graditelja tebanskega obzidja. Za izhodišče vzamem dve zelo različni verziji zgodbe, ki ju prinaša mitološki priročnik Bajke sicer neznanega avtorja Higinaiz 2. stoletja po Kr., in ju primerjam z drugimi znanimi antičnimi ubeseditvami tega motiva.
