In the preschool period, a child should acquire a broad and varied range of movement experiences which form the basis of subsequent complex movement patterns. This basis must be solid because it significantly influences the child's overall development, their engagement in various sports at a later time and also determines whether sport will become one of the important elements of a person's quality of life in all age periods"},{"@xml:lang":"sl","#text":"Posebnosti predšolskega otroka narekujejo vzgojiteljem, športnim pedagogom in drugim pedagoškim delavcem specifičen in celosten pristop, ki se v marsičem razlikuje od poučevanja odraslih. Otrok naj bi v predšolskem obdobju pridobil čim bolj pestro in široko paleto gibalnih izkušenj, ki so osnova kasnejšim zahtevnejšim gibalnim vzorcem. Ta temelj mora biti kakovostno zgrajen, saj pomembno vpliva na otrokov celostni razvoj, na kasnejše vključevanje v različne športne zvrsti in tudi na to, ali bo šport postal človeku ena izmed pomembnih sestavin kakovosti življenja v vseh starostnih obdobjih.
