The surface distance, the surface inclination and the surface curvature can vary over space. The variation in regard to a horizontal plane is known as the vertical surface roughness and the variation in regard to a vertical plane is called the horizontal surface roughness. The vertical surface roughness and the horizontal surface roughness are determined by the vertical and horizontal surface roughness coefficients. As for Slovenia, the highest vertical surface roughness coefficients characteristically appear in the mountain areas, while the highest horizontal surface roughness coefficients are stated in the low hills areas</dc:description><dc:description xml:lang="sl">Z digitalnim modelom višin lahko določamo oddaljenost, nagnjenost in ukrivljenost površja glede na vodoravno ali navpično ravnino v prostoru, zato govorimo o vodoravni in navpični oddaljenosti, vodoravni in navpični nagnjenosti ter vodoravni in navpični ukrivljenosti površja. Oddaljenost, nagnjenost in ukrivljenost površja se lahko prostorsko spreminjajo. Njihovemu spreminjanju glede na vodoravno ravnino pravimo navpična razgibanost površja, njihovemu spreminjanju glede na navpično ravnino pa vodoravna razgibanost površja. Določamo ju lahko s koeficientom navpične razgibanosti površja in koeficientom vodoravne razgibanosti površja.
