People with dementia are considered a vulnerable group with a less stable identity due to the nature of the disease, often causing their individuality to be disregarded. Systematic review of the literature shows that the living and social environments play an important role in the consolidation, maintenance, and reconstruction of the identity of people with dementia. Interactions of people with dementia with their living and social environments enable them to learn new strategies for expressing their identity, while social capital remains a valuable source of power in the process of identity expression, consolidation, or reconstruction. The narratives of people with dementia contribute to the preservation of their personal identity and enable reviving memories. The opportunity to share experiences and participate in social interactions serves as recognition of their uniqueness and provides them a sense of worth and value. People with dementia want to participate and engage in activities, as many are an essential building block of their identity. Successful completion of activities also helps maintain a positive self-image and experience their own worth</dc:description><dc:description xml:lang="sl">Identiteta človeka je dinamična, nestalna in spremenljiva ter se oblikuje v družbenih kontekstih. Pripovedi in zgodbe ljudi z demenco pripomorejo k ohranjanju njihove osebne identitete in omogočajo podoživljanje spominov. Možnost zaupanja izkušenj in vključenost v socialne interakcije pomenita priznanje njihove enkratnosti in jim dajeta občutek vrednosti. Ljudje z demenco si želijo sodelovanja in vključenosti pri aktivnostih, saj so številne ključen gradnik njihove identitete, uspešno dokončanje aktivnosti pa pripomore k ohranjanju pozitivne samopodobe in doživljanja lastne vrednosti</dc:description><edm:type>TEXT</edm:type><dc:type xml:lang="sl">znanstveno časopisje</dc:type><dc:type xml:lang="en">journals</dc:type><dc:type rdf:resource="http://www.wikidata.org/entity/Q361785" /></edm:ProvidedCHO><ore:Aggregation rdf:about="http://www.dlib.si/?URN=URN:NBN:SI:doc-JQIQ1T7B"><edm:aggregatedCHO rdf:resource="URN:NBN:SI:doc-JQIQ1T7B" /><edm:isShownBy rdf:resource="http://www.dlib.si/stream/URN:NBN:SI:doc-JQIQ1T7B/10d96f96-3236-4be5-aa56-73be9699aa89/PDF" /><edm:rights rdf:resource="http://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/" /><edm:provider>Slovenian National E-content Aggregator</edm:provider><edm:intermediateProvider xml:lang="en">National and University Library of Slovenia</edm:intermediateProvider><edm:dataProvider xml:lang="sl">Univerza v Ljubljani, Fakulteta za socialno delo</edm:dataProvider><edm:object rdf:resource="http://www.dlib.si/streamdb/URN:NBN:SI:doc-JQIQ1T7B/maxi/edm" /><edm:isShownAt rdf:resource="http://www.dlib.si/details/URN:NBN:SI:doc-JQIQ1T7B" /></ore:Aggregation></rdf:RDF>
