The aim of our internal project was to verify the presence of burnout among the employees of the University Rehabilitation Institute, Republic of Slovenia. Methods: Using the Maslach Burnout Inventory, we assessed three dimensions of burnout by means of the Emotional Exhaustion, Depersonalisation and Personal Accomplishment scales. Results: There were 146 respondents from Ljubljana and Maribor. We verified adequate internal consistency of the scales and discriminative power of their items. Statistically significant differences in burnout-dimension scores were observed with respect to age, gender, work experience and workplace location. Contrary to our expectations, a higher level of burnout was observed on average among men than among women. Also, unexpectedly, employees in the helping professions did not experience burnout more often in general than those in other professions. Conclusion: Based on the findings, we suggest some measures for preventing or reducing burnout and stressful experiences</dc:description><dc:description xml:lang="sl">Uvod: Sindrom izgorelosti (angl. burnout syndrome) bi lahko opredelili kot kronično stanje skrajne psihofizične in čustvene izčrpanosti, ki je posledica dolgotrajnega samoizčrpavanja s pretiranim delovnim in čustvenim angažiranjem. Namen raziskave v okviru internega projekta je bil preveriti prisotnost pojava izgorelosti med zaposlenimi na Univerzitetnem rehabilitacijskem inštitutu Republike Slovenije - Soča. Metode: Z Maslachinim vprašalnikom izgorelosti smo ocenili izraženost treh dimenzij izgorelosti. Uporabili smo lestvice čustvene izčrpanosti, odtujenega odnosa do dela (depersonalizacije) in osebne izpolnitve. Rezultati: V raziskavi je sodelovalo 146 zaposlenih v Ljubljani in Mariboru. Potrdili smo ustrezno notranjo skladnost vseh treh lestvic in diskriminativnost njihovih postavk. Statistično značilne razlike v dimenzijah izgorelosti smo opazili glede na starost, spol, delovno dobo in lokacijo dela. V nasprotju s pričakovanji smo v povprečju zaznali višjo stopnjo izgorelosti pri moških kot pri ženskah. Prav tako se je nepričakovano pokazalo, da se pri terapevtskih oziroma ostalih poklicih, ki so usmerjeni v pomoč ljudem, izgorelost v splošnem ne pojavlja pogosteje kot pri drugih poklicih.
