Experiences with vcuum heat treatment of HSS steel Č 7680 (BRM2) show that optimizing of vacuum heat treatment prolongs the tool service life. Hard coatings give additional contribution to prolongation of tool service life. The tools for metal powder pressing were vacuum heat treated, pulsed plasma ion nitrided and coated with TiN or CrN by PVD process. Different combinations of surfacing were tested on industrial tools during normal production in Unior Zreče. The results show that surfacing of tested tools prolongs their lifetime for at least two times</dc:description><dc:description xml:lang="sl">Sodobne smeri razvoja oplemenitenih orodij so usmerjene v postopke za modifikacijo površin z eno- ali večplastnimi trdimi prevlekami na primerni podlagi. Izkušnje z uporabo vakuumske toplotne obdelave hitroreznega jekla Č 7680 (BRM2) kažejo, da že optimiranje vakuumske toplotne obdelave pri posameznih orodjih občutno podaljša njihovo zdržljivost. K dodatnemu podaljšanju zdržljivosti pa prispevajo tudi trde prevleke. Orodja za stiskanje prahov so bila vakuumsko toplotno obdelana, ionsko nitrirana v pulzirajoči plazmi ter prekrita s trdo prevleko TiN in CrN. Zdržljivost posamezne kombinacije je bila preizkušena neposredno na industrijskih orodjih v Unior-ju Zreče.
