A comparative survey of library legislation shows that certain degree of caution is required, and the extent of risk depends upon the ability for a realistic comprehension of the conditions of the development of librarianship. Connectedness with national and global information strategy is of utmost importance, and merits at least as much attention as legislation. However, a Library Act is not something indispensable; moreover, it can comprise regulations concerning the system which includes all libraries (national library service) or only regulations concerning public libraries. In any case, a clear vision of the development of Slovenian librarianship is absolutely necessary"},{"@xml:lang":"sl","#text":"Potreben je temeljit razmislek o položaju in ureditvi knjižničarstva, predvsem glede na izzive, ki jih predstavlja informacijska družba. Primerjalni pregled knjižnične zakonodaje navaja k previdnosti, stopnja tveganja zmote pa je odvisna od sposobnosti razumevanja realnih razmer v razvoju knjižničarstva. Odločilna je povezanost z nacionalno in globalno informacijsko strategijo, ki zasluži najmanj toliko pozornosti kot zakonodaja. Zakon o knjižnicah ni neobhoden, lahko pa se nanaša na ureditev sistema vseh knjižnic (nacionalna knjižnična služba) ali pa zgolj na ureditev javnih knjižnic.
