This forms the basis for a comparison between true folk creativity and Krek's expectations of it. In view of this, the autor tries to explain the reasons for Krek's resignation from the post of editor of a comprehensive collection of folk songs, comparing Krek's views on the subject with those of Krek's successor, Karl Štrekelj. She then proceeds to ascertain what Gregor Krek and his position on folk songs wished to convey to public of his time, and what he communicates to us in the presentPrispevek z razumevanjem okoliščin, v katerih je deloval Gregor Krek, analizira njegov zbirateljski in uredniški koncept in na podlagi teh spoznanj išče razločke med podobo resnične ljudske ustvarjalnosti in Krekovimi pričakovanji. S tem razumevanjem skuša pojasniti razloge za njegov odstop od uredništva, hkrati pa ugotavlja razhajanje in bližino s Štrekljevimi pogledi.
