Did not meditations of women (and some men as well) linger too long on Christ's loincloth (perizonium) and on what supposedly lay beneath it? These were the questions often posed in the later Middle Ages. The sleeveless tunic (colobium) attributed to Christ in the earliest depictions of the Passion came to be replaced by the loincloth, first in Byzantine art and later also in the Western art of the 11th and 12th centuries. The loincloth, either tightly woven or translucent, became a conventional sign of Christ's nakedness, serving as a censoriship covering for genitals and a fetishistic object par excellence</dc:description><dc:description xml:lang="sl">V poznem srednjem veku se je večkrat zastavljalo vprašanje, ali so ljudje med pasijonom kdaj videli odraslega Kristusa golega in ali se meditacije žensk (in tudi nekateri moških) ne mudijo predolgo na Kristusovem perizoniju in tistim, kar je pod njim. Na prvotnih prizorih pasijona je Kristus oblečen v tuniko s kratkimi rokavi, colobium. To je naprej v bizantiski in nato v zahodni umetnosti v 11. in 12. stoletju spodrinil ledveni prt. Ne glede na to, ali je perizonij upodobljen kot gosto tkan ali prosojen, se je kljub poudarjanju golote enih cerkvenih učenjakov (predvsem frančiškanov) in opozarjanju na spodobnost in nujni sram drugih uveljavil kot dogovorjeni znak: z njim prepasanega Kristusa so morali gledalci dojemati kot golega.
