Because of permanently increasing demands of neighbouring countries and domestic companies for transporting of loads we need more modern traction vehicles in Slovenia. Slovenian locomotives are around 40 years old, they are becoming too expensive to maintain, and being too weak they are not capable of satisfing international demands. That is why in 2006 the Slovenian railways will introduce multi-voltage Siemens 6 MW locomotives. This locomotive is made to meet all European standards and will be able to work in different systems of electric traction. In addition to the obsolete locomotives, Slovenia also has unsuitable tracks with too steep climbs. That is why all the characteristics of this locomotive are shown in detail in the paper and this locomotive has a large capacity for the traction of goods trains</dc:description><dc:description xml:lang="sl">Slovenske zeleznice so v Sloveniji največji prevoznik v tovornem in v potniškem prometu. Zaradi vse večjih zahtev sosednjih držav in notranjih podjetij v državi po prevozu tovora se je izkazalo, da v Sloveniji potrebujemo sodobnejša vlečna vozila, saj naše lokomotive niso zmožne zadovoljiti mednarodnih zahtev. Stare so ze okoli 40 let, nimajo zadovoljive moči, poleg tega so njihovi stroški vzdrževanja previsoki. Zaradi tega bo pričela v letu 2006 na Slovenskem obratovati Siemensova večsistemska lokomotiva 6 MW, ki je izdelana po vseh evropskih merilih in bo lahko obratovala v različnih sistemih električne vleke.
