Only good knowledge about these stages enables accurate evaluation of scientistic and esthetic worth of thematic maps and determination of authorship of thematical maps. Copyright of each type of the authors of thematical maps in Slovenia is secured on different ways by Slovene Copyright law, which has been unknowingly or intentionally broken by individuals and institutionsIzdelovanje tematskih zemljevidov je najpogosteje sestavljeno iz treh povezanih, a različnih stopenj: znanstvene, znanstveno-umetniške in tehnološke, zato v posameznih stopnjah sodeluje več vrst avtorjev. Samo dobro poznavanje stopenj izdelave omogoča pravilno vrednotenje znanstvene in estetske vrednost tematskih zemljevidov ter določanje avtorstva tematskih zemljevidov.
