He was also the uncle of another Mayor of Maribor, namely Matthäus Reiser. The piece is based on analysed archival and newspaper material and the already existing Slovenian and Austrian literature. Originally Reiser hailed from modern day south east Germany, he was educated as a lawyer and his career took off as successfully as it did largely thanks to his family connections. While governing Maribor, the city acquired a Realschule, Military Academy, and a new hospital building in the Magdalena suburbs. When Anton M. Slomšek was considering a new seat for the Lavantine Diocese, Reiser helped ensure that he chose Maribor"},{"@xml:lang":"sl","#text":"Pričujoči članek obravnava življenje in delo mariborskega župana in posestnika Otmarja (Othmarja) Reiserja, ki je v prestolnici današnje slovenske Štajerske županoval med letoma 1850 in 1861. Bil je tudi stric še enega mariborskega župana Matthäusa Reiserja. Članek je napisan na podlagi analize arhivskih in časopisnih virov ter že obstoječe slovenske in avstrijske literature. Po rodu je bil Reiser iz današnje jugovzhodne Nemčije, po izobrazbi je bil pravnik, za začetek svoje uspešne kariere pa se je imel zahvaliti predvsem svojim družinskim vezem. V času njegovega načelovanja Mariboru je le-ta dobil nižjo realko, kadetnico in novo bolnišnično stavbo v magdalenskem predmestju. Ko se je Anton M.
