Theorists are providing different new and exciting answers to the fundamental questions of IR: when, why and how did the 'International' emerge, how does it work in different social contexts and historical periods, and what are its structural characteristics and dynamics? In the article, we present an unorthodox Marxist answer to some of these questions. The starting thesis of our investigation is that prominent existing Marxist and Neo-Realist theories of geopolitics are unsatisfactory and we therefore start the article by presenting and critiquing these theories. In the second part, we describe and substantiate an alternative theory on the nature and changes of the inter-state system following the end of the Middle Ages - especially with regard to imperialism and globalisation</dc:description><dc:description xml:lang="sl">Na področju mednarodnih odnosov je v zadnjih letih neortodoksni historični materializem vse vidnejša in živahnejša paradigma. V drugem delu članka predstavimo in zagovarjamo alternativno teorijo narave in sprememb meddržavnega sistema po koncu srednjega veka, sploh kar zadeva imperializem in globalizacijo</dc:description><edm:type>TEXT</edm:type><dc:type xml:lang="sl">znanstveno časopisje</dc:type><dc:type xml:lang="en">journals</dc:type><dc:type rdf:resource="http://www.wikidata.org/entity/Q361785" /></edm:ProvidedCHO><ore:Aggregation rdf:about="http://www.dlib.si/?URN=URN:NBN:SI:doc-HKGGHV3T"><edm:aggregatedCHO rdf:resource="URN:NBN:SI:doc-HKGGHV3T" /><edm:isShownBy rdf:resource="http://www.dlib.si/stream/URN:NBN:SI:doc-HKGGHV3T/4f56207d-80d3-4f61-a049-fbe2c76e25ec/PDF" /><edm:rights rdf:resource="http://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/" /><edm:provider>Slovenian National E-content Aggregator</edm:provider><edm:intermediateProvider xml:lang="en">National and University Library of Slovenia</edm:intermediateProvider><edm:dataProvider xml:lang="sl">Univerza v Ljubljani, Fakulteta za družbene vede</edm:dataProvider><edm:object rdf:resource="http://www.dlib.si/streamdb/URN:NBN:SI:doc-HKGGHV3T/maxi/edm" /><edm:isShownAt rdf:resource="http://www.dlib.si/details/URN:NBN:SI:doc-HKGGHV3T" /></ore:Aggregation></rdf:RDF>
