Discussions on this topic in the former Yugoslavia started already in the late 1980s, but they have hardly been noticed abroad. This article presents briefly the asymmetries in the world in different countries (e.g., United Kingdom, Spain, in bicommunal societies, in federations - especially inBelgium and Canada, in the international community), including Slovenia. It focuses on the political and legal dimensions of these phenomena. The analysisconfirms the basic working hypothesis that the traditional concept of (single)nation-state as the basis for existing - symmetrical, hierarchical and(especially ethnically and culturally) homogeneous - constitutional and political systems does not correspond adequately to the plural, diverse and asymmetrical reality of the contemporary world. The article lists a few concepts (such as decentralization, devolution, regionalism, federalism, regional and federal reforms) that have been discussed and - in some cases - used in different countries to enable the translation of the existing pluralism and asymmetries into the political systems</dc:description><dc:description xml:lang="sl">Proučevanje asimetrij in asimetričnosti je postalo ena od osrednjih tem družboslovnega proučevanja v svetu v devetdesetih letih. Prispevek navaja nekaj konceptov in predlogov reforme (npr. decentralizacija, devolucija, regionalizacija, federalizacija, itd.), ki so jih oblikovali v posamičnih državah, da bi omogočali izražanje in uveljavljanje najširšega (zlasti pa kulturnega in etničnega) pluralizma in asimetrij znotraj obstoječih političnih sistemov</dc:description><edm:type>TEXT</edm:type><dc:type xml:lang="sl">znanstveno časopisje</dc:type><dc:type xml:lang="en">journals</dc:type><dc:type rdf:resource="http://www.wikidata.org/entity/Q361785" /></edm:ProvidedCHO><ore:Aggregation rdf:about="http://www.dlib.si/?URN=URN:NBN:SI:doc-HJMJFI2I"><edm:aggregatedCHO rdf:resource="URN:NBN:SI:doc-HJMJFI2I" /><edm:isShownBy rdf:resource="http://www.dlib.si/stream/URN:NBN:SI:doc-HJMJFI2I/5095dba1-9720-494c-a242-5464fb34f0c9/PDF" /><edm:rights rdf:resource="http://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/" /><edm:provider>Slovenian National E-content Aggregator</edm:provider><edm:dataProvider xml:lang="en">National and University Library of Slovenia</edm:dataProvider><edm:object rdf:resource="http://www.dlib.si/streamdb/URN:NBN:SI:doc-HJMJFI2I/maxi/edm" /><edm:isShownAt rdf:resource="http://www.dlib.si/details/URN:NBN:SI:doc-HJMJFI2I" /></ore:Aggregation></rdf:RDF>
