The aim of our study was to try to produce a prosthetic socket stabilised by alternating areas of tissue compression and release, describe the problems that the prosthetist faces when producing such prosthesis, and assess the satisfaction of the user (in comparison with a prosthesis with partially silicone socket). Methods: A person after trans-humeral amputation who already had a passive cosmetic above-elbow prosthesis with partially silicone socket participated in the study. The prosthetist took notes about the problems during manufacturing of the new socket. Sockets comfort was assessed using a numerical analogue scale and the user's satisfaction with the prosthesis was assessed using the Slovenian version of the QUEST questionnaire. Results: We found out that two prosthetists have to participate in the casting procedure and that the cast modifications differ from those for a conventional socket. The user was in general more satisfied with the socket stabilised by alternating areas of tissue compression and release then with the conventional one. The new socket was more comfortable, easier for use and more convenient for the user's needs. It also gave the user a better range of motion in the shoulder on the amputated side. Conclusion: Prosthetic socket stabilised by alternating areas of tissue compression and release appears to be comfortable and the user was satisfied. The main difference with respect to a prosthesis with partially silicone socket is in casting procedure and rectifying the cast"},{"@xml:lang":"sl","#text":"Izhodišča: Udobnost ležišča je najpomembnejši dejavnik, ki vpliva na to, ali bo oseba po amputaciji zgornjega uda protezo uporabljala ali ne. S študijo primera smo želeli preizkusiti novo obliko ležišča pri osebi po transhumeralni amputaciji, ugotoviti, s katerimi težavami se srečuje protetik in kakšno je zadovoljstvo uporabnika. Postopek izdelave in izkušnje uporabnika smo želeli primerjati s protezo s silikonsko ramensko kapo. Metode: Izbrali smo osebo po transhumeralni amputaciji, ki je bila pripravljena sodelovati in je že uporabljala nadlahtno estetsko protezo z ležiščem s silikonsko ramensko kapo. Protetik si je pri izdelavi proteze sproti beležil težave. Udobnost obeh ležišč smo ocenili s številčno analogno lestvico, zadovoljstvo uporabnika proteze pa s slovensko verzijo vprašalnika Quebec User Evaluation of Satisfaction with assistive technology, version 2.0. (QUEST). Rezultati: Ugotovili smo, da morata pri odvzemu mere sodelovati dva protetika in da se obdelava modela razlikuje od običajnega postopka. Bolnik je bil na splošno bolj zadovoljen s protezo z ležiščem z menjajočimi se področji pritiskov in razbremenitev. Ležišče je ocenil kot bolj udobno, enostavnejše za uporabo ter bolj primerno za njegove potrebe. Ležišče mu je omogočilo tudi boljšo gibljivost v ramenu na amputirani strani. Zaključki: Ležišče z menjajočimi se področji pritiskov in razbremenitev je udobno in predstavljeni uporabnik je bil z njim bolj zadovoljen kot z ležiščem s silikonsko ramensko kapo.
