Through research the voices of the vulnerable social groups - the dying and their families - will be heard. Methods: Interviews with the dying and their relatives have been conducted within a comprehensive qualitative research study on palliative care in Slovenia. The article presents the analysis of thetranscripts of the interviews through the principles of justified theory. Results: The research enables the collection of voices of the dying and their significant others. The analysis of the statements collected points at the multidimensional processes of dying and bereavement. At the forefront is the experience of bodily change and pain. Psychologically these processed have been described in categories of anxiety, fatigue and lassitude or the positiveexperience of life reflections. Most of the patients do not mention the impending death and some even deny it categorically. The results concerning the social milieu are threefold: the nearest and dearest who simultaneously offer solace and cause concern, the broader social context stigmatizing their condition and finally the hospital environment which offershelp and support but also generates suffering. The analysis of the interviews identified two main categories, namely, the experience of medical help and the experience of self. Discussion: The dying and their families arevulnerable groups for whom new integrated forms of care should be developed on all levels of healthcare</dc:description><dc:description xml:lang="sl">Izhodišča: Veliki življenjski prehodi, kot je umiranje in smrt, so relativno nov predmet raziskovanja in v slovenskem prostoru skorajda še ne tematiziran. Skozi raziskovanje se lahko sliši glas ranljivih družbenih skupin - umirajočihin njihovih svojcev. Metode: V okviru širše kvalitativne raziskave o paliativni oskrbi v Sloveniji so bili opravljeni tudi intervjuji z umirajočimi in njihovimi svojci. V članku avtorici analizirata transkripte intervjujev s pomočjo principov utemeljene teorije. Rezultati: Raziskava omogoča pridobitev glasu umirajočih in njihovih svojcev. Razprava: Umirajoči in njihovi svojci so ranljiva skupina, za katero je potrebno razviti novejše integrirane oblike skrbi na vseh ravneh zdravstvenega varstva</dc:description><edm:type>TEXT</edm:type><dc:type xml:lang="sl">znanstveno časopisje</dc:type><dc:type xml:lang="en">journals</dc:type><dc:type rdf:resource="http://www.wikidata.org/entity/Q361785" /></edm:ProvidedCHO><ore:Aggregation rdf:about="http://www.dlib.si/?URN=URN:NBN:SI:doc-HFWR4VE4"><edm:aggregatedCHO rdf:resource="URN:NBN:SI:doc-HFWR4VE4" /><edm:isShownBy rdf:resource="http://www.dlib.si/stream/URN:NBN:SI:doc-HFWR4VE4/f5ff4d3e-8590-41aa-a7d2-c5b16d046e76/PDF" /><edm:rights rdf:resource="http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/" /><edm:provider>Slovenian National E-content Aggregator</edm:provider><edm:intermediateProvider xml:lang="en">National and University Library of Slovenia</edm:intermediateProvider><edm:dataProvider xml:lang="sl">Zbornica zdravstvene in babiške nege Slovenije - Zveza strokovnih društev medicinskih sester, babic in zdravstvenih tehnikov Slovenije</edm:dataProvider><edm:object rdf:resource="http://www.dlib.si/streamdb/URN:NBN:SI:doc-HFWR4VE4/maxi/edm" /><edm:isShownAt rdf:resource="http://www.dlib.si/details/URN:NBN:SI:doc-HFWR4VE4" /></ore:Aggregation></rdf:RDF>
