They have in addition to their still valid geodetic role, also a cultural and historical significance. The inscribed landmarks are located in the vicinity of Sežana and Matarsko podolje. Matarsko PodoljeV prvih mesecih leta 2024 so v Register kulturne dediščine na pobudo Geodetskega inštituta Slovenije in Geodetske uprave Republike Slovenije vpisali deset mejnikov katastrskih občin, ki imajo poleg še vedno veljavne geodetske vloge tudi kulturnozgodovinski pomen.
