The author analyses the cost aspect of student work and other forms of work, including work under employment contract. She focuses on the issue of when the student work has all the characteristics of employment relationship and which is the key distinguishing feature of the employment relationship which makes a difference between a regularly employed worker and a student. The paper further deals with the competences of labour inspectors in relation to covert forms of work. In conclusion, the article gives answer to the question whether the current regulation of student work is % primarily from the perspective of the employer - adequate and what steps should be undertaken by the legislatorPrispevek se osredotoča na trenutno veljavno ureditev začasnega in občasnega dela dijakov in študentov (študentsko delo). Avtorica analizira stroškovni vidik študentskega dela in drugih oblik opravljanja dela, vključno s pogodbo o zaposlitvi ter se osredotoči na vprašanje, kdaj so pri študentskem delu izpolnjeni vsi elementi delovnega razmerja in kateri je tisti ključni razlikovalni element delovnega razmerja, ki loči delavca od študenta. Prispevek obravnava pristojnosti inšpektorjev za delo v povezavi s prikritimi oblikami dela.
