Presented are the survey possibilities as a geographical source in the article. The Joseph II military land survey in relatively large scale (1 : 28.800) show all important geographical features in the landscape: relief, vegetation, hydrology, settlements with their morphological structure, roads, boarders andgeographical names. Descriptions along maps also contain data on configuration of relief, crossings through forests and river flow regimes. Due to all provided data the Joseph II military land survey is suitable for studying: geomorphic and hydrological processes, changes in cultural landscape, morphological and structural changes of settlements, development ofroad network, geographical names and development of borders"},{"@xml:lang":"sl","#text":"Jožefinski vojaški zemljevid iz druge polovice 18. stoletja je pomemben zgodovinski vir, v prispevku pa predstavljamo možnosti, ki jih zemljevid nudi kot vir za geografska preučevanja. Jožefinski vojaški zemljevid v razmeroma velikem merilu (1 : 28.800) prikazuje vse pomembnejše geografske prvine pokrajine, ki so pomembne za okoljsko-zgodovinske in historično-geografske študije: relief, rastje, rečno mrežo, naselja z morfološko strukturo, prometnice, meje in zemljepisna imena. Opisi k zemljevidom vsebujejo še podatke o konfiguraciji terena, prehodnosti gozdov in pretočnem režimu rek.
