The proposal derives from an analysis of the museum's collections from Asia, Oceania, and Australia. The author criticises the past (outdated) practice of museum collecting policies in Slovenia which continues to be upheld, partly because of the rigid financing system for purchases of museum objects applied by the Ministry of culture. The author presents an alternative solution: the Ministry of Culture should annually allocate to the museum a fixed amount and the museum, that is museum experts, should carry outa research in co-operation with experts from a chosen country; based on this researchćs findings, objects should then be purchased which present a certain culture in the most authentic wayČlanek govori o potrebi po spremembah muzejske zbiralne politike predmetov t. i. zunajevropskih kultur v Slovenskem etnografskem muzeju. Izhaja iz kratke analize muzejskih zbirk iz Azije, Oceanije in Avstralije. Avtor kritizira dosedanjo (zastarelo) prakso muzejske zbiralne politike v Sloveniji, ki pa se vleče še naprej tudi zaradi rigidnega sistema financiranja odkupa muzejskih predmetov s strani Ministrstva za kulturo.
