The following article views the transmission of trauma in Carinthian Slovene families. Moving life stories from the generation of the grandparents victims of national socialism often open new viewpoints in afore blurred sequences in their childrens biographies. Certain concepts and figures of these life stories can also be found in the unconsciousness of the grandchildren who on their part seek for solutions on how to deal with such historical burden. The theoretical part presents mechanisms of transgenerational transmissions. The empirical part of the article includes a specific study: Three generations of three families were interviewed using the problem focussed method, then categorised according to the structured qualitative content analysis and interpreted with approaches of scenic understanding. The generational bond between the first and the second generation is surpassingly strong. The second generation has taken over the struggle to maintain the Slovene language and culture in Carinthia from and for their parents. For the first and second generation it has been hard to get psychic compensation since the end of WW2Psihične travme presegajo življenja neposrednih žrtev nasilja. Pričujoče besedilo se ukvarja s prenosom travm v družinah koroških Slovencev. Ganljive življenjske pripovedi starih staršev neposrednih žrtev nacionalsocializma lahko na novo osvetlijo prej zamegljena zaporedja v biografijah staršev. Koncepti in podobe, ki so se vžgali v biografijo prve generacije, so prisotni tudi v nezavednem vnukov in vnukinj, ki s tem zgodovinskim bremenom ravnajo na svoj način. Teoretični del predstavi mehanizme predajanja travm. Empirični del predstavi konkretno študijo: s problemsko usmerjenimi intervjuji so bili povprašani pripadniki treh družin. Iz vsake družine so spraševali pripadnika generacije starih staršev, generacije staršev in generacije vnukov. Obsežni podatkovni material je bil urejen in kategoriziran s pomočjo strukturirajoče kvalitativne vsebinske analize in z zasnovami sceničnega razumevanja. Generacijska vez med prvo in drugo generacijo je nadpovprečno tesna. Druga generacija je neposredno prevzela politični in kulturni boj za obstoj slovenske besede na Koroškem.
