The Islamic civilisation reached its peak under the great Umayyad Caliphate and Abbasid Caliphate, and later in the khanates which emerged after the collapse of the Mongol Empire. Its days of glory came in the time of Safavid Persia, Mogul India and Osman Turkey. During this almost a thousand-year long period, the Islamic world represented, together with China, the leading civilisation in the world. The relations between Europe and the Islamic world were often marked with violence and conflicts. The latter began shortly after the emergence of Islam. When the Arabs conquered the Pyrenean peninsula. They increased during the Crusades and reached the climax in the 19th century, with the discovery of oil in Western Asia. The crisis deepened in the 20th century, with the collapse of Osman Turkey. What are the reasons for these conflicts? Is the fear of the Muslims' otherness justified? How will these relations continue in the future?</dc:description><edm:type>TEXT</edm:type><dc:type xml:lang="sl">znanstveno časopisje</dc:type><dc:type xml:lang="en">journals</dc:type><dc:type rdf:resource="http://www.wikidata.org/entity/Q361785" /></edm:ProvidedCHO><ore:Aggregation rdf:about="http://www.dlib.si/?URN=URN:NBN:SI:doc-FXDVWPWY"><edm:aggregatedCHO rdf:resource="URN:NBN:SI:doc-FXDVWPWY" /><edm:isShownBy rdf:resource="http://www.dlib.si/stream/URN:NBN:SI:doc-FXDVWPWY/d5d8896e-5628-49cc-9079-c7d74cdeb34a/PDF" /><edm:rights rdf:resource="http://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/" /><edm:provider>Slovenian National E-content Aggregator</edm:provider><edm:intermediateProvider xml:lang="en">National and University Library of Slovenia</edm:intermediateProvider><edm:dataProvider xml:lang="sl">Univerzitetni center za evro-sredozemske študije (Center EMUNI)</edm:dataProvider><edm:object rdf:resource="http://www.dlib.si/streamdb/URN:NBN:SI:doc-FXDVWPWY/maxi/edm" /><edm:isShownAt rdf:resource="http://www.dlib.si/details/URN:NBN:SI:doc-FXDVWPWY" /></ore:Aggregation></rdf:RDF>
