We established 10 pairs of sampling plots (fenced, unfenced) and measured the amount of fresh grass biomass. We repeated the experiment once. The amount of grass biomass is significantly affected by the fencing (9.9 % of variability), mowing period (47.3 %), interaction between the mowing period and spatial distribution of the plot pairs (5.6 %), and distance of the plot pairs to the forest (15.7 %). The main share of the grassland grazing was in the second mowing - 53.0 % and 20.4 % in the first mowing. The difference in the grassland grazing was minor between the plot pair groups; in the first block, it amounted to 31.6 %, and in the second one to 30.3 %. The total annual share of grazing amounted to 31 %. The experiment results are comparable with other similar studies in the areas of high red deer population densities</dc:description><dc:description xml:lang="sl">Poskus ugotavljanja popasenosti travinja zaradi jelenjadi (Cervus elaphus L.) smo izvedli leta 2021 v predalpskem svetu severozahodne Slovenije, tj. pri naselju Police v Občini Cerkno. Postavili smo deset parov vzorčnih ploskev (ograjeno, neograjeno) in merili maso svežega travinja. Poskus smo ponovili enkrat. Na maso travinja značilno vpliva ograjenost (9,9 % variabilnosti), čas košnje (47,3 %), interakcija med časom košnje in prostorsko porazdelitvijo parov ploskev (5,6 %) ter razdalja parov ploskev do gozda (15,7 %). Največji delež popasenosti travinja je bil v drugi košnji - 53,0 %, v prvi pa 20,4 %. Med skupinama parov ploskev je bila razlika v popasenosti manjša: v prvem bloku je bila 31,6 %, v drugem pa 30,3 %. Skupni letni delež popasenosti je znašal 31 %.
