Fly ash particles were successfully dispersed in the Al alloy matrix by stir casting and uniform micrscopic distribution of fly asch particles was observed in a varietys of small castings. The addition of precipitator fly ash into aluminium increases the hardness of the casting and improves their application potencial. The elastic modulus of aluminium casting increases as the volume percentage of fly ash increases. Fly ash signigcantly increases the abrasive wear resistance of cast alluminium alloys. This is due to the presence of hard aluminosilicate fly ash particles. Aluminium-fly ash composites represent a low cost, ultra light future foundry product with possible widespread applications in the automotive, small engine, and electromechanical machinery sector</dc:description><dc:description xml:lang="sl">Delo obravnava razvoj novih livarskih postopkov pridobivanja in recikliranja kompozitov na osnovi zlitin Al, diskontiuirno ojačanih s kemijsko aktiviranimi pepeli, nastalimi iz premoga, njihovo mikrostrukturno in mehansko karakterizacijo, livnost in predelovalnost z vročim ekstrudiranjem, izdelavo kompozitov ter študij vpliva različnih parametrov procesa in lastnosti ojačitvene faze na kvaliteto pridobljenih kompozitov.
