The first section searches for theessence of object biographies and histories. The second section addresses the issue how understanding material culture influences the conceptualisation of the treated approach. In answer to this question the article presents the influence of the genealogy of archaeologyćs understanding of material culture and object histories in different periods of archaeological science. V prvem delu avtor isee esenco biografij in zgodovinpredmetov. V drugem delu se dotakne vprasanja, kako razumevanje materialne kulture vpliva na konceptualiziranje obravnavanega pristopa. Na to vprasanje odgovarja z predstavitvijo vpliva genealogije arheoloskega razumevanja materialne kulture na produkcijo biografij in zgodovin predmetov vrazlienih obdobjih arheoloske znanosti.
