The purpose of our systematic literature review was to present and examine the effectiveness of Pilates exercise on observed parameters in older women based on professional scientific literature. In the systematic literature review, we included seven randomized controlled trials published in the last ten years. All studies involved healthy women, with the number of participants ranging from 32 to 74. The duration of the interventions ranged from four to 18 weeks. The most common observed parameters were flexibility, muscular strength and balance. We found that flexibility, muscular strength, and postural stability influence balance, which is associated with the risk of falls in older population. Based on a systematic review of the literature and other reviewed articles, it is concluded that Pilates is an effective intervention for older women. It is particularly important to start with the basics, gradually increase the difficulty, and perform the exercises for an extended period, as Pilates shows its effects in the long run</dc:description><dc:description xml:lang="sl">Vadba pilates postaja vse pogostejša med starejšimi ženskami. Namen našega sistematičnega pregleda literature je bil na podlagi znanstvene literature predstaviti in preučiti učinkovitost vadbe pilates na opazovane parametre pri starejših ženskah. V sistematični pregled literature smo vključili sedem randomiziranih kontroliranih raziskav, ki so bile objavljene v zadnjih desetih letih. V vseh raziskavah so sodelovale zdrave ženske. Število posameznic v raziskavah je znašalo od 32 do 74. Terapije so v celoti obsegale od štiri do 18 tednov. Najpogostejši opazovani parametri so bili fleksibilnost, mišična moč ter ravnotežje. Ugotavljamo, da fleksibilnost, mišična moč in posturalna stabilnost vplivajo na ravnotežje, ki pa je povezano s tveganjem za padce pri starejših. Na podlagi sistematičnega pregleda literature in drugih pregledanih člankov ugotavljamo, da je pilates učinkovita intervencija za starejše ženske.
