In this particular period, Josip Jurčič became one of the main representatives of Slovenian political life in Ljubljana and, by holding several important political functions, took on a great deal of responsibility for the future of the Slovenian camp. As one of key representatives of the Young Slovenians, he also dealt with idea of Slavic reciprocity and above all with Yugoslavism. All of this contributed to politics becoming one his central preoccupations.
