Progressive course of multiple sclerosis is associated with greater cognitive impairment. Methods: The study included 58 patients with relapsing-remitting and 59 patients with secondary progressive multiple sclerosis who participated in a comprehensive rehabilitation treatment at the University Rehabilitation Institute in Ljubljana in 2018-2020. Cognitive abilities were assessed using the RBANS test battery (Repeatable Battery for the Assessment of Neuropsychological Status), which assesses attention, memory, visual-spatial/constructional abilities, and language abilities. Results: In the clinical sample of patients with multiple sclerosis, psychomotor speed and memory problems were the most common cognitive deficits; 85 % of the participants in the sample performed worse than demographically determined norms on eight of the 12 subtests. Between-group comparisons (relapsing-remitting vs. secondary progressive MS) showed statistically significant differences in the field of constructional abilities. Conclusion: Cognitive deficits occur in all forms or phenotypes of multiple sclerosis. Their prevalence is higher in clinical samples than in the general population. The clinical psychologist in the rehabilitation team is not only involved in identifying possible deviations from normal cognitive functioning, but also in planning appropriate treatment for the patient to gain maximum autonomy and independence in all areas of life</dc:description><dc:description xml:lang="sl">Kognitivni primanjkljaji se pojavljajo pri 43 % do 65 % obolelih za multiplo sklerozo in običajno vplivajo na vsakdanje funkcioniranje ter na kakovost življenja. Kognitivne sposobnosti smo ocenili s pomočjo testne baterije RBANS (angl. Repeatable Battery for the Assessment of Neuropsychological Status), ki vključuje oceno pozornosti, spomina, vidno-prostorskih/ konstrukcijskih sposobnosti in jezikovnih sposobnosti.
