In this paper we present the most widespread examples of incorrect usage and highlight the proper use of prefixes in information science. This field is regulated by a standard that has come into force a few years agoKljub temu, da je začetek uporabe desetiških pred pon k merskim enotam mogoče zaslediti že pred več kot dvesto leti, je v tehniškem komuniciranju, pa tudi tehniških aktih, slovarjih in celo pravopisu mogoče opaziti nedoslednosti in celo napake. V tem članku želimo navesti nekatere najpogostejše, prav tako pa opozoriti na uporabo predpon v informatiki.
