He served several times in prison in the period from 1936 to 1939 for political engagement. Greif joined the Partisans on 8 August 1941, namely the Pohorje Company, where he was at first commanding a company and then leading the 1st Platoon of the company. At the end of 1941, he left to Primorska, where he assumed the command of the Upper Vipava Company, became political commissar of the Simon Gregorčič Battalion and later also assumed command of the same unit. Also, he was appointed deputy political commissar of the Southern Primorska Detachment, political commissar of the 2nd Battalion of the Primorska Detachment, and commander of the Gorica Brigade. Along with this, he was operations officer and liaison officer of the allied military mission at the 9th Corps HQ, as well as commandant of the Trieste city command. After the end of the war, he was active in various socio-political organisations, authority bodies and in the economy sphere. On 1 November 1943, Martin Greif was promotioned to the rank of major. He was then promoted to the rank of lieutenant colonel (reserve) in December 1950. The highest rank he achieved was the rank of colonel (reserve). He was awarded several military and civilian decorations</dc:description><dc:description xml:lang="sl">Martin Greif-Rudi (1918-1975) je leta 1936 postal član komunistične partije. Med letoma 1936 in 1939 je bil zaradi svojega delovanja večkrat zaprt. V partizane je odšel 8. avgusta 1941, in sicer v Pohorsko četo, kjer je bil najprej komandant čete in nato komandir 1. voda čete. Konec leta 1941 je odšel na Primorsko, kjer je bil komandant Zgornjevipavske čete, politični komisar bataljona Simona Gregorčiča in njegov komandant, namestnik političnega komisarja Južnoprimorskega odreda, politični komisar 2. bataljona Primorskega odreda, komandant Goriške brigade. Bil je tudi operativni in zvezni oficir pri zavezniških vojaških misijah v štabu 9. korpusa ter poveljnik Komande mesta Trst. Po koncu vojne je deloval v različnih družbenopolitičnih organizacijah in nekaj časa tudi v gospodarstvu. 1. novembra 1943 je dobil čin majorja, bil decembra 1950 povišan v rezervnega podpolkovnika, najvišji čin, ki ga je dosegel, pa je bil čin rezervnega polkovnika.
