If drug metabolism is additionally decreased due to genetic polymorphism, the risk for adverse drug effects will be higher in an elderly patient compared to younger adults, due to decrease in maximal performance capacity and loss of homeostatic reserve. Genetic polymorphisms of major drugmetabolising cytochromes P450 are presented. As an example, the influence of CYP2C9 genetic polymorphisms, demographic factors and concomitant drug treatment on warfarin maintenance dose and metabolism is presented"},{"@xml:lang":"sl","#text":"Starostniki so zaradi fiziolookih sprememb, pogostejoega obolevanja za kronioenimi, degenerativnimi, rakavimi in vnetnimi boleznimi in poveoeane porabe zdravilnih uoeinkovin bolj podvraeni neaeljenim uoeinkom zdravil. OEe se presnova zdravil zmanjoa oe zaradi genetskega polimorfizma, je pri starostnikih zaradi manjoe zmogljivosti in manjoe funkcionalne rezerve tveganje za zaplete pri zdravljenju veoeje kot pri mlajoih odraslih. Predstavili smo genetski polimorfizem najpomembnejoih citokromov P450, ki so udeleaeni v presnovi zdravilnih uoeinkovin.
