The reasons include not sufficiently communicating the whole story about the free trade (FT) principle, about the distribution of the costs and benefits among the actors, and the compensatory measures required. Finally, the over-mathematisation of economics has rendered certain issues (like inequality) of secondary relevance. A. Smith's \"invisible hand\" maxim has generally been misinterpreted. To je zato, ker so preveč poudarjali prednosti svobodne mednarodne menjave in pogosto napačno interpretirali \"nevidno roko\" A. Smitha ter podcenili stroške svobodne trgovine in nujnost kompenziranja tistih, ki z mednarodno menjavo zgubljajo s pomočjo politike redistribucije in drugimi ukrepi, ker je sam njen domet omejen.
