According to the ARSO data, practically the whole of Slovenia has the absolute minimum air temperature with a return period of 50 years (the period from 1951 to 2005 (below -18°C, except at the seaside and in Vipava region where it is higher. According to the DRSC data the lowest measured temperature in the pavement last winter was below -16°C. This means that the occurrence of cracks in the asphalt pavements in this region is more likely to happen. In addition to low temperature the traffic in Slovenia has significantly increased in recent years, which has caused the occurrence of thermal cracks.This paper presents the results of the tests on specimens of asphalt concrete AC 11 surf B 50/70 A2/Z2 at the low temperature as a function of bitumen content. We have carried out the cooling test (Tensile Streass Restrained Specimen Test - TSRST) adn uniaxial tensile test (Uniaxial Tensile Strength Test - UTST). The analysis of the results has shown a poor correlation between the bitumen content and TSRST test results. The results of the uniaxial tensile test UTST in the dependence of bitument content indicate that the correlation depends on the test temperature. What is especially evident is good correlation between the maximum reserves of tensile strength delta beta(t,max) and temperature at the maximum reserve tensile strength T(delta beta(t,max)). At the bitumen content 4.8 m.-%. It was observed that the maximum reserves of tensile strength delta beta(t,max) has only slightly changed. Over 4.8 m.-% both of properties have drastically improved. Therefore, the 4.8 m.-% is a minimum bitumen content for our specific bituminous mixture AC 11 surf B 50/70 A2/Z2. This study shows that the bitumen content has very important influence on the properties of the bituminous mixture at the low temperatures</dc:description><dc:description xml:lang="sl">Zaradi geografske lege Slovenije se pri nas srečujemo z zelo nizkimi temperaturami. Po podatkih ARSO je v pretežnem delu Slovenije izmerjena absolutna najnižja temperatura zraka s povratno dobo 50 let (obdobje 1951 do 2005) pod -18°C, razen na Primorskem in Vipavskem, kjer je višja. Po podatkih DRSS je bila pozimi 2011/2012 izmerjena najnižja temperatura vozišča pod -16°C. To pomeni, da je na tem območju zaradi nizkih temperatur večja verjetnost za nastanek razpok na asfaltnih voziščih. Poleg nizkih temperatur je v zadnjem obdobju v Sloveniji tudi porast prometnih obremenitev, ki posledično pospešujejo nastanek razpok pri nizkih temperaturah. V prispevku so predstavljeni rezulati preskuskov na vzorcih bitumenskega betona AC 11 surf B50/70 A2/Z2 pri nizkih temperaturah v odvisnosti od deleža bitumna v bitumenizirani zmesi. Opravljena sta bila ohlajevanji preskus ob preprečeni deformaciji (angl. Tensile Stress Restrained Speciment Test - TSRST) in enoosni natezni preskus pri nizkih temperaturah (angl. Uniaxal Tensile Strenght Test - UTST). Analiza rezultatov je pokazala slabo korelacijo med deležem bitumna in rezultati pri preskusu TSRST. Rezultat enoosnega nateznega preskusa UTST v odvisnosti od deleža bitumna kažejo, da je korelacija odvisna od temperature, pri kateri je bil preskus opravljen. Še najbolje je vidna dobra korelacija z največjo rezervo natezne trdnosti delta beta(t,max) in temperaturo pri največji rezervi natezne trdnosti T(delta beta(t,max)). Pri deležu bitumna pod 4,8 m.-% opazimo, da se največja rezerva natezne trdnosti delta beta(t,max) in temperatura pri največji rezervi natezne trdnosti T(delta beta(t,max)) zelo malo spreminjata. Nad 4,8 m.-% pa se obe lastnosti drastično izboljšujeta. Od tod sklepamo, da je 4,8 m.-% minimalni potrebni delež bitumna za to našo konkretno sestavo AC 11 surf B50/70 A2/Z2.
