Povsod je organizirana šolska knjižnica, vendar ne kot šolski informacijski center. Zaradi primernega kadra je v slovenskih šolskih knjižnicah strokovno delo na dobri ravni. To je bilo mogoče doseči predvsem zaradi medsebojne pomoči knjižničarjev v aktivu. V italijanskih šolskih knjižnicah je stanje slabše: zaradi neustreznega kadra sobile knjižnice vodene nestrokovno. Največja težava je pomanjkanje sredstev za šolske knjižnice, zaradi česar je nakup skromen, prostori pretesni in oprema neustrezna.
