Viktor Murnik into the Sokol, Slovenian physical culture also gets a tremendous boost in development. Many of the actions first taken by Dr. Viktor Murnik, are still reflected today. He founded the men’s technical committe and then the women’s. The technical committe started with the first education of trainers. It is to his credit that the Slovenian Sokol Association (the first Slovenian association in the field of physical education) was founded. In addition to the fundamental sokol philosophy of »a healthy soul in a healthy body«, he also introduced the mentality of »higher, stronger, faster« and enrolled the Slovenian Sokol in the international gymnastics federation. Thus, already in 1907, he paved the way for us Slovenians to participate in the world championships and thus put Slovenian physical culture, gymnastics and sports on the world map. After the First World War, at the Congress of the International Gymnastics Federation, he obtained the organization of the World Gymnastics Championship in 1922 in Ljubljana, where he was the leader of the competition and the coach of the men’s team. In this competition, Murnik becomes the first Slovenian coach to enter to the podium with the team. He was also the first Slovene coach who earned the podium with the team at the Olympic Games in 1928. Both Leon Štukelj and Peter Šumi won under his leadership. He became the first independent publisher in the field of physical culture with the publication of Slovenski Sokol. He participated in the first women’s medal at the World Gymnastics Championships before World War II. He is the internationally recognized father of gym dances. Drago Stepišnik credits him with being the first Slovene phylosoph and scientist (e.g. defining expert vocabulary, exercise system) in the field of physical culture. Viktorja Murnika v sokolske vrste dobi tudi slovenska telesna kultura izjemen pospešek pri razvoju. Mnoga dejanja, ki jih je prvi naredil dr. Viktor Murnik, se odražajo še v današnjem času. Ustanovil je moški vaditeljski zbor in nato še ženskega. Vaditeljska zbora sta začela prvo izobraževanje vaditeljev. Njegova zasluga je, da se je ustanovila Slovenska sokolska zveza, prva slovenska panožna zveza na področju telesne kulture. Ob temeljni sokolski misli »zdrava duša v zdravem telesu« je vpeljal tudi miselnost »višje, močneje, hitreje« in slovenske sokole včlanil v mednarodno telovadno zvezo. Tako nam je Slovencem že leta 1907 utrl pot, da sodelujemo na svetovnih prvenstvih in s tem postavimo slovensko telesno kulturo, telovadbo in šport na svetovni zemljevid. Po prvi svetovni vojni je na kongresu mednarodne telovadne zveze pridobil organizacijo svetovnega prvenstva v telovadbi leta 1922 v Ljubljani, kjer je bil vodja tekmovanja in vaditelj vrste. Na tem tekmovanju postane Murnik prvi slovenski vaditelj, ki se je z moštvom povzpel na zmagovalni oder. Bil je tudi prvi slovenski vaditelj, ki se je z moštvom povzpel na zmagovalni oder na olimpijskih igrah leta 1928. Pod njegovim vodstvom sta zmagovala tako Leon Štukelj kot tudi Peter Šumi. Postal je prvi samostojni založnik na področju telesne kulture z izdajanjem Slovenskega Sokola. Sodeloval je pri prvem odličju žensk na svetovnih prvenstvih v telovadbi pred drugo svetovno vojno. Je mednarodno priznan oče telovadnih plesov. Drago Stepišnik mu priznava, da je bil prvi slovenski mislec in znanstvenik (npr. urejanje izrazoslovja, sistem vadbe) na področju telesne kulture.
