Izhajal je pod različnimi imeni (Marburger Correspondent, Mariborer Zeitung,…). Bil je glasilo nemške manjšine v Mariboru in okolici. Do leta 1919 je izhajal dva do trikrat tedensko, kasneje pa vsak dan. Marburger Zeitung je svojim bralcem ponujal dnevne novice, različne zgodbe v podlistkih, pregled političnih dogodkov, gospodarske novice, poročila o zgodovini Maribora, mešane novice in najrazličnejše oglase. Po letu 1909 pa tudi novice iz sodne palače in celo kakšno gledališko novico. Vseboval je številne priloge.
