This article aims to test the effect of social capital on conventional and unconventional political participation among Iranian youth (n= 1379) by dividing social capital into three categories: cognitive, relational and structural. The results indicate the cognitive and structural dimensions exert a significant effect on the rise in conventional political participation among the population. The results also reveal that the structural dimension is the only component with a significant and positive effect on unconventional political participation, while the relational dimension had no significant effect on any dimension of political participation"},{"@xml:lang":"sl","#text":"V zadnjih letih je Iran doživljal širitev modernosti, solidarnosti in tradicionalnih družbenih vezi, zaradi zmanjševanja socialnega kapitala, pa se je spremenila oblika politične participacije državljanov, za katere je zdaj značilna bolj konvencionalna politična participacija in včasih nekonvencionalna politična participacija in protesti. Za namen članka sva želela preizkusiti, kakšen je učinek socialnega kapitala na konvencionalno in nekonvencionalno politično participacijo med iransko mladino (n = 1379), tako da sva socialni kapital razdelila v tri kategorije: kognitivni, relacionalni in strukturni. Rezultati kažejo, da kognitivna in strukturna razsežnost pomembno učinkujeta na povečanje konvencionalne politične participacije med prebivalstvom.
