They all share a common feature - to stimulate neuroplasticity and potentially affect the perception of pain stimuli. Methods: We searched the PubMed database using the "neuromodulation, "spinal cord stimulation" and "chronic pain” keywords. We limited our search to randomised controlled trials, meta-analyses and systematic reviews published in the past 10 years (from 2013 to 2023). Results: We included 66 review articles and randomised controlled trials published in the past 10 years into further evaluation. We divided our literature review into invasive and non-invasive neuromodulation procedures, described their mechanisms of action and the efficacy to manage chronic pain. Conclusions: Despite a large increase in the use of neuromodulation approaches over the past 20 years, documenting efficiency in high-quality research is key for further development of neuromodulation methods</dc:description><dc:description xml:lang="sl">Izhodišča: Nevromodulacijske metode zajemajo različne, tako invazivne kot neinvazivne pristope, katerih skupna značilnost je spodbujanje nevroplastičnosti in potencialno vplivanje na zaznavanje bolečinskih dražljajev. Metode: V iskalniku PubMed smo iskali gesla »neuromodulation«, »spinal cord stimulation« in »chronic pain«. Iskanje smo omejili na randomizirane kontrolirane raziskave, metaanalize, sistematične preglede in pregledne članke v zadnjih desetih letih (obdobje 2013 – 2023). Rezultati: V podroben pregled smo vključili 66 preglednih člankov in randomiziranih kontroliranih raziskav, objavljenih v obdobju 2013 - 2023. Pregled smo razdelili na invazivne in neinvazivne metode, opisali način delovanja ter navedli dokaze o učinkovitosti za obvladovanje kronične bolečine. Zaključki: Kljub velikemu porastu uporabe nevromodulacijskih pristopov v zadnjih 20 letih je za njihov razvoj v prihodnosti ključno dokumentiranje učinkovitosti v visoko kakovostnih raziskavah</dc:description><edm:type>TEXT</edm:type><dc:type xml:lang="sl">znanstveno časopisje</dc:type><dc:type xml:lang="en">journals</dc:type><dc:type rdf:resource="http://www.wikidata.org/entity/Q361785" /></edm:ProvidedCHO><ore:Aggregation rdf:about="http://www.dlib.si/?URN=URN:NBN:SI:doc-CX6WMAFS"><edm:aggregatedCHO rdf:resource="URN:NBN:SI:doc-CX6WMAFS" /><edm:isShownBy rdf:resource="http://www.dlib.si/stream/URN:NBN:SI:doc-CX6WMAFS/ad3ac6b3-2bb4-4d27-a8be-627fcf01a87d/PDF" /><edm:rights rdf:resource="http://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/" /><edm:provider>Slovenian National E-content Aggregator</edm:provider><edm:intermediateProvider xml:lang="en">National and University Library of Slovenia</edm:intermediateProvider><edm:dataProvider xml:lang="sl">Univerzitetni rehabilitacijski inštitut RS – Soča</edm:dataProvider><edm:object rdf:resource="http://www.dlib.si/streamdb/URN:NBN:SI:doc-CX6WMAFS/maxi/edm" /><edm:isShownAt rdf:resource="http://www.dlib.si/details/URN:NBN:SI:doc-CX6WMAFS" /></ore:Aggregation></rdf:RDF>
