Its treatment is mostly surgical and in- volves the insertion of a shunt (in most cases, ventriculoper- itoneal or ventriculoatrial drainage) or endoscopic third ven- triculostomy. This article describes the surgical treatment of hydrocephalus, the indications for shunting the ventricles, and the techniques used. We also focus on surgical complications.
