Estrogens, endogenous as well as those infiltrated artificially into the organism, play a decisive partin its origin. The disease affects especially older or overweight women. In Slovenia, endometrial cancer is the most frequent of genital malignomas. Itoccurs most often in the histological form of endometrioid adenocarcinoma, adenosquamous earcinoma, papillary serous adenocarcinoma and clear-cell adenocarcinoma. In predicting the course of disease, staging is more importantthan the histological tumour type. On the basis of surgical pathologic data, the patients with endometrial cancer are classified into fourstages"},{"@xml:lang":"sl","#text":"Rak endometrija je hormonsko odvisen tumor. Odločilno vlogo pri njegovem nastanku imajo estrogeni, tako endogeni kot umetno vneseni v organizem. Bolezen prizadene predvsem starejše in ženske s prekomerno telesno težo. V Sloveniji je rak endometrija najpogostejši med raki rodil. Najpogosteje se pojavlja v histološki obliki endometrioidnega adenokarcinoma, adenoskvamoznegakarcinoma, papilarnega seroznega adenokarcinoma in svetloceličnega adenokarcinoma. Za napoved poteka bolezni je stopnja diferenciacije pomembnejša od histološkega tipa tumorja.
