Bible with colleagues notes that 49 % of spinal surgeons routinely prescribe a spinal orthosis after surgery; as the reason, they state that the orthosis limits activity and reduces pain. Surgeons who prescribe the orthoses are not poised to follow the same guidelines for the duration of use and the type of orthosis. The goal of using a spinal orthosis after surgery is to combine support, rest, immobilisation and protection. Spinal orthosis limits the movement of the spine and serves as a psychological factor that reminds the patient of their condition. Prescription of spinal orthosis after the fusion of the vertebrae is based on the assumption that external immobilisation protects the operated area in the stage of bony fusion and increases the likelihood of fusion of the vertebrae. However, studies of spinal orthoses indicate that the orthosis does not reduce the load that is transmitted through internal fixation loads and does not stabilise the implants (screws, rods, cages). The opinion of the orthopaedic surgeons at the Valdoltra Orthopaedic Hospital is that the spinal orthosis is an important part of the early rehabilitation treatment of the patient after lumbar spine surgery and contributes to a better outcome of the treatment. Therefore, a spinal orthosis is prescribed and fitted to all our patients after surgical intervention of decompression and stabilisation</dc:description><dc:description xml:lang="sl">Uporaba spinalne ortoze po operaciji degenerativnih obolenj na ledveni hrbtenici je pogosta, a tudi sporna. Mnenje ortopedskih kirurgov v Ortopedski bolnišnici Valdoltra je, da je spinalna ortoza pomemben del zgodnje rehabilitacijske obravnave pacienta po operaciji na ledveni hrbtenici in prispeva k boljšemu izidu zdravljenja, zato vsem pacientom po kirurškem posegu dekompresije in stabilizacije predpišemo in izdelamo spinalno ortozo</dc:description><edm:type>TEXT</edm:type><dc:type xml:lang="sl">znanstveno časopisje</dc:type><dc:type xml:lang="en">journals</dc:type><dc:type rdf:resource="http://www.wikidata.org/entity/Q361785" /></edm:ProvidedCHO><ore:Aggregation rdf:about="http://www.dlib.si/?URN=URN:NBN:SI:doc-COWYA3GH"><edm:aggregatedCHO rdf:resource="URN:NBN:SI:doc-COWYA3GH" /><edm:isShownBy rdf:resource="http://www.dlib.si/stream/URN:NBN:SI:doc-COWYA3GH/0796357b-820d-4295-923a-5d7ab1208d30/PDF" /><edm:rights rdf:resource="http://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/" /><edm:provider>Slovenian National E-content Aggregator</edm:provider><edm:intermediateProvider xml:lang="en">National and University Library of Slovenia</edm:intermediateProvider><edm:dataProvider xml:lang="sl">Univerzitetni rehabilitacijski inštitut RS – Soča</edm:dataProvider><edm:object rdf:resource="http://www.dlib.si/streamdb/URN:NBN:SI:doc-COWYA3GH/maxi/edm" /><edm:isShownAt rdf:resource="http://www.dlib.si/details/URN:NBN:SI:doc-COWYA3GH" /></ore:Aggregation></rdf:RDF>
