Honey locust (Gleditsia triacanthos L.) is a deciduous tree native to North America and is a popular ornamental tree because of its fast growth, durability, and aesthetic appearance. It is an extremely invasive species in Australia and South America, and its invasive potential has also been demonstrated in Europe. In Slovenia, it is often planted in cities but can also grow spontaneously. In our study, we recorded the presence of honey locust in the eastern part of Slovenia and noted the habitats in which it occurs in the region. Between 2019 and 2025, we recorded honey locust at 86 locations, of which 39 (46%) were planted and 47 (54%) were spontaneous. Most locations were in urban areas, but we also recorded some in semi-natural habitats, such as hedgerows, field edges, and forest edges. At two locations, we recorded more than 100 young plants. The species has the potential to become invasive, therefore we recommend continued monitoring of spontaneous emergence</dc:description><dc:description xml:lang="sl">Tujerodne invazivne vrste predstavljajo enega od vzrokov za globalno upadanje bidoverzitete. Vrsta ima potencial, da postane invazivna, zato priporočamo nadaljnje spremljanje spontanega pojavljanja</dc:description><edm:type>TEXT</edm:type><dc:type xml:lang="sl">znanstveno časopisje</dc:type><dc:type xml:lang="en">journals</dc:type><dc:type rdf:resource="http://www.wikidata.org/entity/Q361785" /></edm:ProvidedCHO><ore:Aggregation rdf:about="http://www.dlib.si/?URN=URN:NBN:SI:doc-C7KGJJEP"><edm:aggregatedCHO rdf:resource="URN:NBN:SI:doc-C7KGJJEP" /><edm:isShownBy rdf:resource="http://www.dlib.si/stream/URN:NBN:SI:doc-C7KGJJEP/c4b7884b-f552-4949-be7d-305ad8b7473d/PDF" /><edm:rights rdf:resource="http://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/" /><edm:provider>Slovenian National E-content Aggregator</edm:provider><edm:intermediateProvider xml:lang="en">National and University Library of Slovenia</edm:intermediateProvider><edm:dataProvider xml:lang="sl">Botanično društvo Slovenije</edm:dataProvider><edm:object rdf:resource="http://www.dlib.si/streamdb/URN:NBN:SI:doc-C7KGJJEP/maxi/edm" /><edm:isShownAt rdf:resource="http://www.dlib.si/details/URN:NBN:SI:doc-C7KGJJEP" /></ore:Aggregation></rdf:RDF>
