This article considers how the Catholic Church's social power has been impacted by the so-called \"holy crash\"; namely, the 2010 collapse of the archdiocese of Maribor's financial empire and its investments and interests in various enterprises controlled through its Gospodarstvo Rast financial firm. It reveals the fact that in recent years trust has declined the most in the Podravje and Koroška regions of Slovenia, both of which lie within the Maribor archdiocese. This decline intrust supports the central hypothesis that the scandal and secrecy surrounding the collapse have negatively impacted trust. The article further establishes that trust in the Church has declined among regular churchgoers, although to a smaller extent than among less committed adherents to the faith. In the conclusion, this article reflects on the wider social consequences of the crash and diminished trust in the Catholic Church among Slovenians. Indeed, both contribute to neo-secularisation, i.e. the decline ofreligious authority, and in the medium term considerably affect realisation of those Church-sponsored projects designed towards the pillarisation of Slovenian society"},{"@xml:lang":"sl","#text":"Raziskava SJM 2011 (2)/WVS 2011 je izmerila najnižje zaupanje v cerkev v času samostojne Slovenije. Veliko ali precejšnje zaupanje v cerkev izraža le 25 % Slovencev. V članku raziskujem, kako je na zaupanje učinkovala The 2011 \"sveta polomija\", kot so odmeven zlom cerkvenega finančnega imperija (2010) poimenovali tuji mediji. Ugotovim, da je zaupanje v cerkev v zadnjih letih najbolj upadlo v podravski in koroški regiji. Ti dve regiji se nahajata v mejah mariborske nadškofije, ki je s svojim Gospodarstvom rast koordinirala delovanje cerkvenih holdingov. To potrjuje osrednjo tezo o negativnem učinkovanju zloma na zaupanje. Ugotovim tudi, da je zaupanje v cerkev upadlo tudi med cerkveno vernimi oz. rednimi obiskovalci verskih obredov, čeprav ne toliko kot med najmanj pogostimi obiskovalci oz. neobiskovalci cerkvenih obredov. V zaključku razmišljam o širših družbenih posledicah ekonomskega kraha in znižanja zaupanja v cerkev med Slovenci. Ob tem, da prispevata k neosekularizaciji kot upadanju avtoritete cerkve, je z njima srednjeročno močno zmanjšana tudi verjetnost realizacije tistih cerkvenih projektov, ki bi vodili v pilarizacijo slovenske družbe.
