The theory of film and literature in Germany has recently raised the question whether a text by a German artist with Turkish roots is German or Turkish. As shown by this survey of the history and features of the Turkish- German film, "minority cinema" (a concept based on Deleuze and Guattari's definition of "minority literature") is part of the national culture as wellMladi turško-nemški režiserji (večinoma pripadniki tretje generacije Turkov v Nemčiji) upodabljajo v svojih filmih zgodbe, ki niso tipično nemške in s katerimi so izkristalizirali zgodovino in posledice turških migracij v Nemčijo. Zadnje čase se v nemškem prostoru v filmski in literarni teoriji postavlja vprašanje, kakšne nacionalnosti je delo izpod peresa oz. kamere ustvarjalca, ki ima turške korenine in je narejeno v večinskem jeziku.
