Ownership can be terminated in various ways. The right of ownership of movable property shall be terminated by abandonment if the owner declares their will that they no longer wish to exercise their right. However, the right of ownership may also be terminated by someone else acquiring the right. The question is, what are the legal consequences of depositing waste in containers? Does it constitute an abandonment of the right of ownership, giving the possibility for anyone to acquire the right of ownership by occupation? Or does the dumping of waste indicate an intention to transfer ownership to an authorised person? The answer is not entirely clear in Slovenian law. The author prefers abandonment. The thing deposited should have the characteristic of nobody's property. Some problems related to the unclear issue of ownership are also describedOdpadki imajo do fizičnega uničenja lastnost stvari in so predmet lastninske pravice. Ta lahko preneha na različne načine, na premičnini preneha z opustitvijo, če lastnik izjavi svojo voljo, da svoje pravice ne želi več izvrševati. Lastninska pravica pa lahko preneha tudi tako, da pravico pridobi kdo drug. Vprašanje je, kakšne pravne posledice ima odlaganje odpadkov v zabojnike. Ali to pomeni opustitev lastninske pravice, kar daje možnost, da kdorkoli pridobi lastninsko pravico z okupacijo. Ali pa odlaganje odpadkov kaže na namen prenosa lastnine na pooblaščeno osebo. Odgovor v slovenskem pravu ni povsem jasen. Avtor daje prednost opustitvi. Odložena stvar naj ima lastnost nikogaršnje stvari.
