Several different directives have been implemented with the aim to define the handling of wood. In this paper, directives dealing with energy recovery and combustion without energy recovery are discussed. Since wood waste as a secondary raw material source is produced in different locations, different conditions and different contamination levels, the main task of directives is to protect the environment and human health. Several directives are in force. Z namenom definiranja ravnanja z lesom je bilo sprejetih več različnih direktiv. V tem delu članka govorimo o direktivah, ki se navezujejo na predelavo lesa v energetske namene oziroma odstranjevanje lesa brez pridobivanja energije. Glede na to, da lesni odpadki kot sekundarne surovine nastajajo na različnih mestih, v različnih stanjih in stopnji kontaminiranosti, je poglavitna naloga direktiv, da z namenom varovanja okolja in zdravja ljudi nadzorujejo določene procese ravnanja z odsluženim lesom.
