Studies from the literature report many negative effects of high heels on feet. The aim of our study was to find out whether wedge-shaped soles have the same effect on plantar pressures as high heels. Methods: Using the F-scan 5.0 system (Tekscan Inc., USA), we measured plantar pressures during ground walking in 15 healthy female students with no history of previous lower limb injuries. They walked barefoot and using 2 and 5 cm high wedge-shaped soles. Results: Using the wedge-shaped soles, a statistically significant increase in pressure under the big toe was observed on both feet, while a notable increase in pressure under the first metatarsal joint was statistically significant only on the right foot. Pressure in the area from the second to the fifth metatarsal joint gradually decreased with increasing height of the wedge-shaped sole. The same effect was observed on the heel of the left foot. Conclusion: Like high heels, wedge-shaped soles increase pressure on the front median part of the foot, but perhaps less so than high-heel shoes</dc:description><dc:description xml:lang="sl">Izhodišča: Veliko žensk nosi čevlje z visokimi petami. Zaključki: Klinasti poviški, podobno kot visoke pete, povečajo pritiske na medialnem delu stopala spredaj, vendar morda manj kot čevlji z enako visokimi petami</dc:description><edm:type>TEXT</edm:type><dc:type xml:lang="sl">znanstveno časopisje</dc:type><dc:type xml:lang="en">journals</dc:type><dc:type rdf:resource="http://www.wikidata.org/entity/Q361785" /></edm:ProvidedCHO><ore:Aggregation rdf:about="http://www.dlib.si/?URN=URN:NBN:SI:doc-BIAIL4YA"><edm:aggregatedCHO rdf:resource="URN:NBN:SI:doc-BIAIL4YA" /><edm:isShownBy rdf:resource="http://www.dlib.si/stream/URN:NBN:SI:doc-BIAIL4YA/5dcf40de-6386-4914-9100-f46ea18064d8/PDF" /><edm:rights rdf:resource="http://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/" /><edm:provider>Slovenian National E-content Aggregator</edm:provider><edm:intermediateProvider xml:lang="en">National and University Library of Slovenia</edm:intermediateProvider><edm:dataProvider xml:lang="sl">Univerzitetni rehabilitacijski inštitut RS – Soča</edm:dataProvider><edm:object rdf:resource="http://www.dlib.si/streamdb/URN:NBN:SI:doc-BIAIL4YA/maxi/edm" /><edm:isShownAt rdf:resource="http://www.dlib.si/details/URN:NBN:SI:doc-BIAIL4YA" /></ore:Aggregation></rdf:RDF>
