The legacy of the Pohorje poet was treated according to ethnomusicological criteria in a comprehensive monograph, Jest sem Vodovnik Juri, O Slovenskem ljudskem pevcu (1988). It seems that everything possible about Vodovnik has been recorded, analysed, defined, and placed in the wider Slovene context. However, a numberof questions, mainly related to his creative work, authorship, and how his songs were spread, remain unanswered. In this article the author tries to elicit certain facts through careful reading of Vodovnikćs songs, and to connect them into an image which might complement Vodovnik's story. His reflections mainly deal with a specific section of his social environment, that is with the people who in one or another way were connected with Vodovnikthrough music and songs. This refers to the role of local musicians inspreading an author's songs in a certain environment, and to the function offolk musicians in spreading and preserving folk songs"},{"@xml:lang":"sl","#text":"O Vodovnikovem življenju in delu vemo danes že precej. V obsežni monografiji Jest sem Vodovnik Juri, O Slovenskem ljudskem pevcu (1988) je bila zapuščina pohorskega pevca obdelana po etnomuzikoloških kriterijih. Vodovnik je bil popisan, analiziran, definiran in umeščen v širši slovenski prostor. Pa vendar je vrsta vprašanj, ki se nanašajo predvsem na njegovo ustvarjanje, avtorstvo in razširjanje viž, ostalo še odprtih. Avtor skozi pazljivo branje nekaterih njegovih pesmi v tem prispevku poskuša izluščiti nekatera dejstva injih povezati v sliko, ki naj bi dopolnila še en del Vodovnikove zgodbe. Razmišljanja se nanašajo predvsem na del njegovega socialnega kroga, na tiste ljudi, ki so bili z njim tako ali drugače v povezavi z glasbo in peto pesmijo.
