Although the results of numerous studies of gender representation in such books performed in the past two decades suggest that teaching materials have been an important instrument in perpetuating gender stereotypes, recent researches have revealed certain changes in this area. The present analysis supports these findings. The research corpus consists of eleven textbooks of Spanish/L2 (level A1 and A2) by different Spanish publishers, all of them published in the last four years. The gender roles in which women and men appear are critically analyzed. The results of the analysis suggest that there has been a conscious effort by both authors and editors in order to change the stereotypical gender representation in these didactic materials. We offer an explanation for these changes suggesting that they can be accounted for by the action of a different model of gender sensitive language policies, the bottom-up model, where the crucial factors of change are not the activities of the official institutions but rather are to be found in different communities of practice, i.e., all people involved in creating, publishing and distributing teaching materials, as well as linguists who investigate the relationship between language and genderPrispevek se posveča obravnavi vlog spolov v učbenikih za španščino kot tuji jezik pri vzdrževanju ali odpravljanju privzetih predstav obeh spolov pri pouku. Kljub številnim raziskavam, ki so v zadnjih dveh letih poskušale prikazati vlogo učil pri vzdrževanju privzetih predstav pri sprejemanju spolov, pa sodobne raziskave, ki jih podpira tudi pričujoči prispevek, kažejo na premik pri obravnavi omenjenega vprašanja. V korpus raziskave se uvršča enajst učbenikov za španščino kot tuji jezik (raven A1 in A2), izdanih pri španskih založbah v zadnjih štirih letih. S kvalitativno analizo so razčlenjene vloge moškega in ženskega spola, ki se pojavljajo v gradivu. Izsledki analize kažejo večje prizadevanje piscev in založnikov pri obravnavi privzetih predstav obeh spolov v učnem gradivu. Prispevek poskuša pojasniti omenjene spremembe in predstavi možnost obravnave s pomočjo različnih modelov spolno občutljive jezikovne politike, kot je model bottom-up, ki med odločilnimi dejavniki pri uvajanju sprememb izpostavi zlasti izkustvene skupnosti, kot so, denimo, vsi deležniki in osebe, vključene v pripravo, izdajanje in distribucijo učnega gradiva, ter jezikoslovci, ki se posvečajo vprašanju odnosa med jezikom in spoloma, institucionalnim dejavnikom pa pripisuje manjšo vlogoTEXTznanstveno časopisjejournalsSlovenian National E-content AggregatorNational and University Library of SloveniaUniverza v Ljubljani, Filozofska fakulteta
